Drivin’ ‘N’ Cryin’ Comes to The Tabernacle to Take Care of that Holiday Hangover
Tuesday, December 22nd, 2009So, the holiday season is drawing to a close and there isn’t anything more to do but to wait until the new year and the fresh starts that it brings. Family is most likely still in town and you’re not really sure what to do, since most of them don’t even really want to be here anymore. Well, Rock 100.5 is bringing Drivin’ ‘N’ Cryin’ to The Tabernacle on the day after Christmas.
Drivin’ ‘N’ Cryin’ is a band from Atlanta, getting their start in 1985 by Kevin Kinney and Tim Neilson. They have a total of twelve albums on their discography and this tour is being done in order to produce their new album, The Great American Bubble Factory. Their shows, all in all, have been rather entertaining and show the true variety of people that live in the Atlanta area. The Tabernacle is going to prove to be an interesting location to have the show, since it’s smaller than most of the other venues available in the Atlanta area.
Drivin’ ‘N’ Cryin’, like the people of Atlanta, shares the diversity of the world around them. They are the only band in the world that has shared the same stage with Lynyrd Skynyrd, Sonic Youth and Neil Young all in the same twelve-month period. They also call themselves a band that is like your record collection, diverse but enjoyable.
December 26th, 2009 at The Tabernacle in downtown Atlanta, Drivin’ ‘N’ Cryin’ will take the stage, with no opening bands listed. Reviews of their newest album claim that it is classic Drivin’ ‘N’ Cryin’, a combination of glitzy rock, country and blues. I would suggest at least downloading a couple of songs to get familiar with their new ones, as most people already have a firm grasp on the older stuff that they have put out.
Drivin’ ‘N’ Cryin’ will be at The Tabernacle, with doors opening at 8:00pm. Tickets can be reserved through LiveNation.com. The Tabernacle is located at 152 Luckie Street NW, Atlanta, GA 30303, about a block away from the Georgia Dome, Centennial Olympic Park and Phillips Arena. Instead of paying extra for parking, consider taking MARTA down, since they let the train off just outside of Phillips Arena.
So, what do you do to entertain the family members that have overstayed their welcome? Take them to a Drivin’ ‘N’ Cryin’ show. One of the few bands in existence that manages to appeal to all people, from nine to ninety. At $20 a ticket, it’s a nice way to bring the holiday to a close and remember why you’re proud to live in Atlanta and support local artists.
