Kid Stuff: Welcome to Funderdome!

Kid Stuff: Welcome to Funderdome!By Gus Fernandez. There are ticking time bombs in every city, ordinary people capable of doing great things. They wait tables, answer phones, sit in traffic. Unfortunately for some, they tick forever and never explode, but in the case of Ryan Stang and Kid Stuff, the fuse is hot and short. On the brink of blowing up, Kid Stuff already boasts a

Gallery 4463

Gallery 4463 Acworth Atlanta Metro Area Georgia 30101 3By Rosey Sumrall. These times of economic instability find the market for art dwindling, and many galleries are unable to stay afloat. Here in Atlanta, we have lost many galleries to the harsh reality of declining sales. Despite the mess, Gallery 4463 in Acworth has been able to survive.

The structure of the building itself is quite striking. Brick walls and high ceilings offer enough space to accommodate a crowd. They house a number of different artistic mediums, including (although certainly not limited to) paintings, sculpture, photography, jewelry and pottery.

Groove Stain: Leaving Their Mark on Atlanta’s Music Scene

Groove Stain Music Band Rock Reggae Hip HopBy Audra Biddle. I have been lucky enough to know the members of Groove Stain for quite some time now, and therefore rarely miss a show. Atlanta’s own 5-piece rock/reggae ensemble consistently brings a lively, engaging vibe to whichever venue they play, and their upcoming performance, this Thursday, December, 17th, at The Masquerade is sure to be no exception.

My Big Fat Greek Wedding Singer

Constantine Varazo 1By Madison Massey. Don’t let the title of this one fool you. He does do weddings, he is all Greek, but the man is definitely easy on the eyes! Constantine Varazo is a triple threat working the Atlanta entertainment circuit. An accomplished actor, model, and singer, Varazo relocated to our city from Pensacola, Florida in 2002 to polish his acting focus. However, he came to find himself submerged in this city’s popular independent

Citizen Icon: Crimes of Undeniable Talent

Citizen IconBy K. Nola Mokeyane. Thanksgiving holiday was the catalyst for many locals and visitors’ desire to check out what the city of Atlanta’s nightlife potentially had to offer, but unfortunately many were not privy to the exuberant musical performance of Citizen Icon live at Vinyl. This independent rock band, consisting of four musicians right out of Atlanta, Ga., introduced a handful of newcomers to the chemistry they share

A Band to Cure Your Boring Playlist – Atlanta’s own FishHawk

FishHawk music band

By Rosey Sumrall. There is a new kind of music seeping into the streets of Atlanta. It is new, but familiar. It is simultaneously rebellious, emotional, and sexual; something that grabs onto your collar, pulling you into what feels like a music video and leaving you wanting more.

It’s the Most Wonderful Time…For A Beer

Beer Glasses

By Lauren Shirley. Oh, the holidays. It’s that time of year again when people come together, share wonderful meals, traditions…and in many cases, plenty of booze. Oh, Atlanta, you offer so many wonderful temptations! Atlantans know how to party and really get down with the best of ‘em, and this year should be no different. I don’t often indulge in cocktails, (definitely more of a beer kind of girl) but I do have a special place in my heart for seasonal delights, and alcohol is no exception.

Subsonics’ Legacy Continues at 529

Subsonics

By Gus Fernandez. 529 in East Atlanta hosted our own Subsonics last Saturday. I’d been personally counting down the days until this show when I found out it was happening. Subsonics seem to have been playing in Atlanta for an eternity, their first release dating back to a seven inch from back in 1993. Clay Reed, brains behind the outfit, has been
